A man walked into a barber shop to get his hair cut. He began to chat with the barber about the weather and about his life. The barber started to talk to the customer about how the world was being over run by hurt, and he point blank asked him: " Why does God allow pain?" The customer sat in his chair quietly, not wanting to start a big debate. The barber kept working and finished cutting the man's hair. The customer tipped the barber and stepped out onto the streets. He saw a man with long shaggy, unkempt hair. He went inside to the barber and said, " You ask why God allows pain.... Do you see that man on the street? His hair is unruly and he needs a haircut. Tell me why do barbers allow people to look like that?" The barber thought for a moment.... " Well, because they don't come to me and ask for a hair cut." "Exactly," said the customer. "Not everyone goes to God to ease their pain either."

Pain is our body's way of telling us something is wrong. If we never felt pain, we could end up chewing our hand off and bleeding to death, but never feel a thing. Things like that would happen if we never felt pain.

Because sin has come into the world thru Adam and Eve. But the Bible promises that when God's Kingdom rules, "pain will be no more."

Because god is too weak or not loving enough to make a universe in which everyone can have as much or equal amount of pleasure and less/no pain.

Now if you want to know HOW there is pain, that's biological.

Pain and suffering came about as a result of "original sin" by Adam and Eve.

Pain exists.. so we can appreciate good health, so we can remember that we are alive. Imagine if you were a paraplegic.. you would not feel pain..If you lost a limb you would never feel pain there again... or if you were dead? Would you have pain?

Pain is a necessary response to harmful stimuli. If the human body could not feel pain, we could sit on a cactus and injure our backsides (or worse).

In order to understand this question, we must first go back to the very beginning. God created the universe to be perfect, a paradise. But one of the angels that God created thought he was better than God so he started a rebellion. This angel was good enough to convince a third of all God's angels to side with him in his rebellion. Well the rebellion was crushed and that angel was quite furious. So God created the earth and everything in it, plants, animals, etc... Then God created man in His own image. We were to be like God, to talk with God, and to walk with God. The man called Adam lived in a lush garden with every need supplied to him, he had free reign of the garden except for that he couldn't eat from the tree in the middle of the garden. God decides that Adam shouldn't be alone and creates for him a companion, a woman named Eve. The commandment doesn't get conveyed to Eve properly and she's wondering near the tree in the center. The fallen angel (Satan) wants nothing more to get back at God, but what can he do? He decides to take away the one thing that God loved more than anything else, man. So he tricks Eve into eating from the fruit in the middle, and Eve takes it to Adam. Before that time Adam nor Eve knew what sin was. But eating from that tree brought sin into the world. God couldn't tolerate the sin and cast Adam and Eve from the garden. Before that time there was no death, but Adam brought death in the world by eating the fruit, with death, pain and suffering. Before the fall of man, Adam had dominion over the earth, afterward, Satan was given control of the earth. Because of the events that happened on that day, there is now pain.

Chapter II
God loves all of mankind, and wants to restore all that was lost from the fall of man. The only problem is that sin still exists in this world and God cannot be near sin. Blood from an animal sacrifice was required to cover the sins of man temporarally to restore things from God to man. But it was only a band-aid a quick fix. God had something greater in mind, He just had to wait for the right time. He sent a sacrifice, perfect and pure, His only Son Jesus Christ to fill in that spot for us. Jesus died by one of the most horrible and cruel deaths imagionable, he was hung on a cross before all the people. The only thing that can cover sins completly and absolutly is the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. And as a sign that we can be redeemed from that sacrifice, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day.
