Yes, if you don't overeat on normal days.

Are you fasting for religious reasons or to lose weight. Yes you will lose weight but you are fooling your body into thinking it's starving so it will hold onto fat and break down muscle tissue for energy. When you start eating again, you will gain more weight than before. You will not be able to replace the muscle tissue you lost. It will come back as fat. Even your religion will allow you to break your fast daily. Eat sensibly and exercise

Yes. I lost 28 lbs. while on a juice fast. It was for 40 days. I am maintaining the 28 lbs by eating a lot of fruit, vegetables, and nuts, and also fasting on Mondays. I eat what I want on weekends. I do not do this perfectly but I went to the Doctor and on their scale I have still maintained a 26 lb. loss. The struggle goes on but it is well worth it. For one thing I am in much better health. I no longer have acid reflux and my blood pressure is down where it belongs. I am spiritually in much better shape too.
You can find great juice fasting recipes on line.
Blessings,
Cathy

Well...yeah...anyone who doesn't eat will lose weight. Haven't you gone on a diet before? That is why in Matthew it tells people not to be hypocritical by making themselves look starved while they do fast. Just so everyone will know that they are fasting. Just to do it for you and God to know about.

Sure --but fasting should not be used to lose weight--if it is, then you are fasting for the wrong reasons and could get very ill.

If you restrict your calories for longer than two weeks, your body's metabolism resets itself to a lower rate. It would be a good idea to wait a month in between fasts to avoid this, if possible. Excersize and weight lifting activities will help with boosting your metabolism when you eat more.

fasting is meant to be for spiritual growth not for weight control.. You will lose weight at first but find your body will get used to this and your metabolism will slow down and make it harder to lose weight after a while

Fasting in religion is for prayer. Sometimes people give up certain things, like for instance television, sodas, even food for a certain amount of time. Some do it for only a day or two, and others may do it longer.

Yep, but you gotta really do it -not just think about it. 3 days is usually my limit. I personally two people who have gone 40 days with nothing but water. You will loose weight. A real fast allows only water.

fasting helps me to maintain my weight. i do NOT fast for the sake of losing weight, but to feel the hunger n emphatise with the less fortunate ones. n this will help us to appreciate our food more and share it with others =)
fasting is not solely refraining from eating from dawn to dusk (for Muslims) but also helps to control desires (which includes smoking), sight , hearing, etc.

Yes... but fasting isn't supposed to be a weight loss method.
