How long do you have to make an assualt charge?

Ok so I just posted a question about my brother in law. I know he is in jail for something with his wife. Saturday night she hit him and left dozens of scratch marks. He never touched her. How long dose he have to press charges?

This lady is quite psycotic and puts him in jail when she is made on them

Statute of limitations is running...different by jurisdiction. The reality is that he should do it now. Prosecutors do not like these kinds of criminal cases, especially when the perp is female and the vic male. Tell him to try (may not succeed) to do it now, especially if there is photographic evidence of injury.
