Why do people treat me so mean & yell @ me all the time? People are always telling me I'm stupid & wrong for being too nice. I'm tired of so much hatred!

My former foster brother-in-law lied 2 my foster cousin, saying that I'm crazy & that I haven't been taking my medicine, & that that's why he doesn't speak 2 me.

He knows how 2 butt in & yell @ me when I'm talking 2 my mom, when she fusses @ me, he always butts in & yells too.

I take my medicine EVERY night, even though I don't need 2 be on medication. & if I didn't take my medicine, it's not his business, anyway! My foster mom & them always falsely accuse me of not taking my medicine. Anti-depressants don't help. The only medication I need is a positive & healthy environment, not pills! Someone recently told me that antidepressants are unhealthy anyway because she said that antidepressants are nothing but steroids. I also heard that some psychiatric medicines can cause severe liver damage.

But if I were to overdose on my meds, they'd falsely accuse me of acting out for attention & say that I'm trying 2 be suicidal. I never overdosed before, but I know how they are. I mean, if the Dr. switched my meds & I had a reaction 2 the new meds, the foster family would do this. They did this before.

I can't be too crazy because I just graduated from college, & I'm almost 23 yrs. old. I'm still here because I lost my home during Hurricane Katrina & I have no place else to live.

First of all... what antidepressants are you taking and what dosage? Secondly antidepressants are not steroids and they do not resemble steroids in any way , shape or form. If you are smart you will stop listening to friends and anyone else who tells you "facts" about your meds and actually speak to your doctor about it. Third... people don't accidentally overdose on antidepressants. Finally any bad reaction you would have to a new antidepressant would not be severe enough to be life threatening UNLESS it caused you to have increased thoughts of suicide in which case you tell your doc and they take you off it. If this is your foster family and you are 23 and have a degree move on. Get a job , rent an appt. and move on with your life. Take your meds , go to counseling and take care of yourself. Depression is a mental illness but it doesn't mean you are crazy..... You can get "crazy" if you don't treat it properly but as long as you do what you are suppose to you should be fine. Also... you really don't sound all that stable. You say you take your meds every night but you dont need to be on them? Most docs don't put you on antidepressants just to give you something to do. It is dangerous to stop antidepressants cold turkey... they are not steroids and they effect the chemical seratonin in your brain. You need to know what you are taking , why you are taking it and how it works. It is your body be responsible for what goes into it.

No one else can tell you who you are. You need to get rid of your toxic nostalgia and find "Emotional Resilience" which is also a book by David Viscott. Admit your hurt, let go of anger, forgive but also stand up for yourself, and finally follow your passions to a happy life of mental health. I too took multiple psychoactive drugs and saw psychiatrists for 3 straight years. None of that BS helped! I read that book and a year later I'm doing better than ever, and don't take any meds any more and likely never will again. Seriously the best $12 you'll ever spend. You have to be ready to change though. I'm the type who really wants to change and the advice I got from that book made me think a lot and I figured a lot of things out through hard work on myself and my past.

It doesn't sound like a happy nor healthy environment your living in. You are old enough to get out on your own and not take their abuse. Not sure why they are treating you this way. Possibly they're jealous of your accomplishments in college, but in any case, if I were you, I'd check into Housing assistance. There are plenty of places you can move into an apt based on your income. Also there is assistance out there until you can fully make it on your own, Good Luck!

Sounds like you need to get out. Just try to ignore them as much as possible until you can, you're an adult you don't have to take your meds if you don't want to. And, anti-depressants can be very unhealthy. Just be srong. Best of luck!

And, you are not wrong, they're wrong, for treating you the way they do.

It is unfortunate that you are in this dilemma. Without knowing the facts of what is going on it seem that you are faced with bias opinions from those around you. Until you are able to put yourself in a better environment you have to use fortitude and perseverance to survive. Refuse to let them put you down and dominate your resolve. Concentrate on staying focus and set goals that Will help you surpass this setback. Stay away from arguing with them by realizing that you are above the picture they are trying to paint as you and quietly, but determinedly continue your journey to succeed in your quest..

First, don't stop taking your medications unless you speak to your doctor and follow his guidance. Antidepressants are not steroids.

Maybe it is time for you to find your own place to live is this disfunctional foster family is getting to you. Move out and take control of your own life.

Get out of there as soon as you possibly can.... you are no longer welcome there....get a job and fly away from there..

Join the Navy, Air Force or ??? If you have a college degree you may be able to go to OCS and become an officer. It's called a 90day wonder...... referring to the short time to become an officer.

I'm not sure about the medication that you are taking...they test for drugs.

"O" Wise One.........knows for sure about this..

I'm sorry you've had a hard time.....but the best thing to do is to shake it off and go on about your buisness! You seem to be doing quite well (college and surviving Katrina) so why let some insignificant nobody control your happiness???? Do your thang and do it well....LET NO ONE STAND IN YOUR WAY!! Good Luck! =D

I told you already..............Take your meds just like the doctor prescribed and then don't worry about what anyone else says.

Your wearing your feeling on your shirt sleeve. Get a damn back bone.
Let what they say go in one ear and out the other.

Have you not figured out yet that they are intentionally doing this to you? They are getting "their kicks" out of it.

Blow them off....Do not let them know that it bothers you.
Once you stop letting them know that they are getting to you so much, that they cant push your buttons and make you cry.......Then they will stop.

I think you ARE right. All you need is a loving, healthy and positive environment. Imagine a home where no one yelled at you, accused you, overly criticized you, but just loved you. You'll find it sweetie, now go! =)
