Why Americans eat pizza with their hands, instead of fork and knife? Where else in the world this happens?

My German teacher told me that in Germany, the locals eat pizza with fork and knife. It's funny, because the locals are always able to figure out whose American, because we Americans love to eat pizza with our hands.

I'm not sure by your question whether you are for or against eating with your hands--but there is a certain pleasure that comes from eating foods --all kinds of food-- with your hands--there are whole cultures based on it--not just Americans

Ever heard of Moroccan food or Mexican food in Mexico they often just use tortillas no utensils.

Some people consider it rude and very high brow to eat finger foods with a knife and fork--but then again in America we live in a free country--so if you want to use a knife and fork go for it

I traveled through Europe and nobody there eats pizza with fork and knife....does anybody on the world do that? A real good pizza is almost impossible to eat with fork and knife....

Pizza was invented in Italy and most everybody I saw there ate their pizza with their hands.

And...it's not disallowed to eat you pizza with knife and fork - if this is your way go ahead and enjoy!

Well I think 80% of the pleasure is taken away by using a fork and knife. Pizza is supposta be fun don't over think it.

???? What ??? You must be French or something and get 3 hour long lunch breaks, wine and cheese parties. Americans and Canadians often eat pizza while on the run because its convenient. when we do have the time to sit down and eat a nice pie we may eat it with a knife and fork, but the habit tends to stick.

in italy happens... and everywhere else...
i use fork and knife when pizza is still very hot, but then i use my hands... is well used in italy eat pizza whit hands, also in Pizzeria and if you are not in a hurry....
eating with fork and knife take away 90% eating pleasure!!

Well in Chicago you have to eat it with a fork
And people eat the little slices with their hands cuz they can
