For some reason, i can't put a file from my laptop to my desktop... It doesn't make sense, though, because i can ping the other computer and the folder is shared and they are on the same network...

Check to see if both computers are on the same workgroup. Do a Properties check on your computer and look under the "Computer Name" tab. If they aren't both in the same workgroup, Windows won't let the computers talk.

Go to the laptop
Click on start
Select Run
Type in the IP address of the desktop with two slashes in front (like \\192.168.0.1)
Click OK
Should open an Explorer window with the content of the desktop
Drag files back and forth between that window and the laptop
(You can do the same from the desktop using the laptops IP address)

If none of the other answers work,

could you ever do this?
what as changed?
ping uses ICMP not IP so a firewall could let a ping through but block ports 135, 137, 138, 139 and/or 445 depending on what OS your using. File sharing is OK to use but does have seriuos security issues you need to watch for. Please, read the link below.
