well, in my honest opinion, I think that your guy is still to shy around you, even when it gets to asking serious questions. Or maybe he doesn't want the mood to be too serious,means asking it in a casual way may loosen it up a bit. You need to make your feelings known to him - perhaps explain it to him like you have to us, and tell him that it's a serious thing. It's always good to be straightforward and honest, and not bashful.
