Most people do not use a manual for product knowledge for this one reason: Manuals are created and written by company techs whom already know how to operate the product. These techs never take into consideration the level of interest or tech intelligence the average consumer has. They, at times, write above the brain capacity of the consumer. This leads to great confusion for the new product owner. If one experiences frustration when reading a manual, one does not wish to do such again.

I always read the manual. But for example, my brother doesn't. He just skips over the whole thing and tried to figure everything out for himself which is stupid because he winds up getting frustrated and changes a very important setting on there. Reading the manual is the way to go, but he says he can do it without it. If the people who made the camera thought that, then they wouldn't have made a manual, right?

I don't think people feel like taking the time to read a manual and they would feel happier if they were to figure out how to use something on their own.

Sometimes you know something so well that you don't have to.
Other times the manueal is like a 100 pages, so you only read the section you need to when you get stuck.
