I probably sound really stupid for asking this question but I don't care! About every drink recipe tells you to put in a part of this and a part of that..I'm trying to make a margarita and the package says to mix in 1 part tequila and 3 parts of margarita mix..I don't understand what this means. How much exactly do I need to put in of each?

It's all relative. Relative to the amount of drink you want to mix. If you want to prepare a drink just for yourself, then 1 oz tequila, and 3 oz of margarita mix. If you want to make 10 drinks, then it's 10 oz of tequila, and 30 oz of margarita mix. Who said you would never use algebra in "real life". They should teach math and algebra using drinks as examples. That would get students attention, and make it something they can relate too.....

Parts are used in ratios. 3 parts mix is anything between 3 microliters and 3 kiloliters, depending upon how big a margarita you are making. If it's 3 parts mix, 2 parts tequila I'd suggest 3 ounces mix and 2 ounces of tequila.

That means equal parts, so for example if you put 1 ounce tequila you'd put 3 ounces of margarita mix. As long as it's a 1:3 ratio it will be correct. So you could try 1 cup of tequila and 3 cups of margarita mix. Just depends on how much you want to make.

There are NO stupid questions! That's what this site is for is for people who don't know something!

The easiest way to explain it is to tell you if you use 1/4 cup tequila, use 3/4 cup margarita mix. If you use 1 cup tequila, use 3 cups mix; 2 cups tequila, use 6 cups mix. If you use 1/2 cup tequila use 1 1/2 cups mix. Just multiply the amount of tequila you use by 3 and that's how much mix you use.

Let's say you used 1 oz of tequila you would put in 3 times that so you would use 3 oz of margarita mix. Or 2 oz of tequila you would use 6 oz of margarita mix. Hope this helps.

Your recipe is written as a ratio. One drink would be one ounce of tequila to three ounces of mix. That would be a bar style single drink. So you multiply that times the number of drinks you are serving 6oz tequila to eighteen ounces mix should serve six people. A pretty weak Margarita if you ask me. I would add more tequila because I prefer a stronger drink.

Cheers!

Ha, well they don't know how much you want to make so they're just saying if you use one oz. of tequila, then use 3 oz. of mix. So I'll just assume that since you are new to this, you are using a random 12 ounce glass. Fill it ALL THE WAY WITH ICE, put like 2 ounces of tequila in then around 3 times that of mixer (this should just about fill it). Salting the rim and cutting lime wedges (or wheels) is a whole nother paragragh. Espero que tenga un buen dia!

Tequila Cups

it all depends how much drinks you want to make.
totally are 4part . 1 tequila and 3 margarita mix.
If you want to make a gallon of margaritas for a party,
you need 1/4 gallon tequila
and 3/4 gallon mix.

if you want to make only a cup, it's the same:
1/4 cup tequila and 3/4 cup mix.

cheers!

I always understood it as find out how may people you are serving and mix towards that....sooo...1 drink would be 1 ounce tequila 3 parts mix....

Serving 8 people would be 8 ounces tequila and 24 ounces margarita mix....

That makes sense...right??? ~:o)
