Hunny, Generally, the harshest persecutions come from those who are religious. The stiffest opposition that Jesus faced was from Israel's religious leaders.
The Bible stated...Christian, the world will persecute you (15:20; 16:1-4). Verse 20. If they persecuted Me (and they did is the idea), they will also persecute you.Just as hatred can mean anything from indifference to murderous intent, sopersecution can mean a lot of different things. How was Jesus persecuted?
They laughed at Him.
They argued with what He said.
They didn't believed what He said.
They called Him a liar.
They called Him ignorant carpenter.
They accused Him of sorcery and being in league with Satan.
They called Him the bastard child of Mary.
And, yes, they spit on Him, they beat Him and they killed Him.
Anything from being laughed at to being killed is persecution. And to some degree we as Christians will experience the same.
Please read in the link below.
A Christian.

The world hates? I didn't think the world could talk like that. Now if you are talking why do people hate Jesus or Christians then you are wrong. There are lots of people in the world that don't hate Christians or Jesus. I don't hate either. I believe Jesus did live. I don't hate him. I don't hate Christians. My family is full of Christians and I don't hate them. Ok, so I don't like a few of them but that is because of different reasons. I have Christian friends. It is ok with me whatever religion you pick or if you don't want a religion that is fine too.

I wouldn't say the world HATES Jesus and religion.
But that's only my opinion.
Actually I believe 80%+ of the worlds population is christian or some form of it.
And those who HATE jesus and christianity....are a bit ....extreme.
To each their own, but I guess some people just don't get it.
I think the real problem is acceptance.
If one person believes in Jesus and is happy with their belief, then good.
If another person believes that we are just here, by evolution otherwise, or that their is no higher power, and they are happy with their decision, then good.
We just need to accept that some people think different things, but that is an issue both christians and non-christians face.
It'll never change.
Just my opinion. Hope this helps. =)

I don't hate jesus or christians only those who throw the bible at me and say live by this book it is right listen to it read it and follow it because this book is right. So yeah, I only hate bible thumpin arrognat *******. I also hate the fact that people bring satan into it. Satan has nothing to do with it. If christians would stop telling me "You're going to hell you ugly f*cking b@stard homosexual a--wipe. JESEUS SAVES!" These are the people I hate, the people who think that everything goes wrong in the world because of gays and sinners. The world would be much better if these people didn't tell me that they are right and I am wrong. So to those of you who are just like I have described and think you are right and will always be right, F UCK YOU! NOBODY has the right to pick and choose what they like and don't like and bring other people down, nor do you have the right to tell me that the bible is the ANSWER. Let me tell you how evil christianity is. When it first was born preists forced people into the religion by threatening them with hell and the devil or be put to death. Have any of you done your own research of what your religion has done to this world? My religion is much older than christianity, parts of my family were threatened by those early preists to join them or die. It was either join them or lose everything they had. That's the true evil of christianity in the early days. Have things totally changed? Not 100% No. In a way christians are now responsible for people wanting to die becuase they are unhappy in their own lives becuase the BIBLE says what's wrong and what's right. You don't have to live by the bible.

JUST AN OPINION BACKED BY FACT.....
The World doesn't hate Jesus, just alot of people didn't accept Him.
High Priests didn't like Him because that would mean that they were below Him & have to step down. To be a High Priest took a lifelong effort, alot of traditional practices, & gave then an authority that they were not willing just to give up.When they wanted proof and He did His miraculous things they said it was demons. They just didn't want to step down for somebody who they thought did magic and didn't follow the traditions that they held sacred for so many years. They liked to be publically seen doing their deeds, it made others feel inferior which gave them their authority. Jesus's authority came from above. Since they were the leaders of the times and had been, the people just followed their lead.
The World doesn't hate Christians but alot of people don't like them!
Christians often contradict the things that they are suppose to live by. Which in the public eye makes them a bit hypocritical and hard to tolerate. Some thump on the Bible and push their belief on to others that don't quite understand causing them to lose interest. Christians also tend to act like they are little better than everyone else (separating themselves from the World, which is in the Bible but is obviously being improperly used) because they have the "Golden Ticket".... makes others feel offended. Christians are told to defend their faith (which is in the Bible but being taken out of context; besides that's what Paul said not Jesus) so who is the opposition.... What one could call the World I suppose.

I don't think that it's possible that the world hates Christains since 80% of the world is Christian. I think that the non Christians of the world don't like being preached to. They don't like the fact in that many parts of the world including the United States that their beliefs are discriminated against by the Christian majority.
In the US, George W Bush has made public statement denouncing Wicca, He has said that we do not deserve to be called a religion and shouldn't be allowed to serve in the military.
He says this as well as saying that he is a born again Christian. This is but one example.

My Friend.. Jesus tells us in The book of Matthew that we would be hated because of his name. He also says that he was hated first. I consider it an honor to know the Lord and His son Jesus and if a majority of the world wants to despise me for it then I'm okay with that too. I will not be intimidated into keeping my mouth shut. Hatred comes from the people who have hardened their hearts and decided to follow the path of destructiveness. They don't want to let the word fill their minds because they are convinced by Satan's deception that there is no Jesus Christ and there is no Heaven Or hell. I am so glad that I walk in the truth as every believer I'm sure is. God Bless You!

The world doesnt hate either Jesus or Christians.
But a lot of people don't want others preaching in their face and trying to control their lives. And right now a lot of Christians are trying to do that.

Because most Christians try to shove their religion down others' throats and think any non Christians are sinning assbags. Look at some people's answers on here. They think that Jesus solves everything. Sometimes people want answers not related to Jesus. That's why people hate Christians. But Muslims are pretty similar too. They think non Muslims are sinning jerkoffs.
