"Every cloud has a silver lining."

Every misfortune brings some benefit.

It means to look for the good that can come out of something negative. If you are looking for a silver lining in the dark clouds, you might be thankful for the rain after a drought. Or if you lost your job, but you found a better one that paid more, the new job would be the silver lining and the old job would be the cloud.

When you look up at the clouds, sometimes you see "silver linings," around them -- and that means that the sun is behind them, ready to come out!

When you look for the silver linings -- in any situation -- you are looking for the good to come out of the bad. You are being positive. You are "looking on the bright side," so to speak.

The nice thing is, when you look for the positive, you often see it!

Not sure, but I beleive it has to do with a "Dark" storm cloud passing with the sun behind it , which causes the edge of the cloud to appear to have a "Silver Lining " after the storm is no longer a threat.

in everything that happens in your world, there is something good that comes up it. look for the positive - it is there. sometimes it is hiding behind a cloud and looks like a silver lining.

Look for the best in any given situation. It's a lot like the saying, "If life serves you lemons, make lemonade." If something appears as a bad break for us, look for the good that may come from it, namely, the silver lining.

..."Every cloud has a silver lining..."

It's the equivalent of telling someone to look for the bright side of things; (+) positives instead of (-) negatives.

It means that no matter how bad a situation or thing seems, there is good in EVERYTHING. Focus on those good things, find them and hang onto 'em, and you will not only be happier all around, but you will learn more and grow from experiences that could have otherwise been negative.
