PRAY my friend. we can't convert people to christ, all we can do is teach god's word, but God is the one who converts. Pray for the un-believers (especially on yahoo answers) that they may come to know Jesus Christ as lord and savior> peace.

I don't think people are afraid to learn about God, Jesus and all the rest. People are given choices in life. Some are bold learners and want to shout it from the rooftop until others tune it out. You don't necessarily need to announce this knowledge, some people need to see in things to believe, some have blind faith. Believing in things that are not always as tangible and visible. The bible is basically a book that hopes to in part moral right and moral wrong. I feel, we are given a deck of cards to play in life, the choices we make determine the outcome. You cannot always change people to believe or answer the question the way you want or expect. That is what makes us each an individual. I am sure this is not the answer you seek, would be nice if we live in a peaceful world. Hell is here on earth at times. Look at the unrest and nastiness out there. There are 3 topics that are taboo and more oft then not cause argument or disagreements and they include politics, religion and money.

I'm not saying this is why people do not believe, people have the right to believe anything they want to. I am just posting this as an idea as to why people turn the back on or do not want to explore christianity as a belief
I'm not sure exactly why, but it could just be how the average Joe schmo is exposed to our religion. More specifically exposed to the churches, and some certain Christians. We have to admit that our churches sometimes do not to the greatest job in showing the world Jesus' light. Today all the denominations are not be the welcoming beacon of light they should be. The churches today judge, demand, and scandalize. Some churches (not all), and through out all denominations have made mistakes. they portrayed the church not as helpful carrying place where it Shepard's people in to love and shows nothing but care and compassion for it's sheep. But as a place where hurt people looking for help come to find that compassion, and find nothing but judgment.
Also many people see the way Christians act out in the reall world and how it contrasts with jesus's teaching and are confused. The way Christians act is the way people see Jesus. If you hurt people they will think Jesus hurts people. You may be the only bible people ever read.
Finally people evangelize about god's wrath, and god's vengeance. This may also be part of a deterrent, because who wants to be near a hateful god

I am not afraid to learn about "God" or "Your Lord Jesus" or the "commandments". I was raised Southern Baptist and I am very well educated in the ways of the Church. I just have no desire to be apart of Christianity. When I turned away from "the church" I found much more happiness. Christianity isn't the way for everyone. I am sure you are going to think I am "oppressed or possessed by the devil", I am not. Just a person who has decided Christianity isn't for them and nothing more and nothing less.

I am not afraid to learn about your God. I am not afraid to learn about Jesus either. Nor am I afraid to learn about the ten commandments. Just because I am not a Christian now doesn't mean I never was one. I learned about your God. I learned about your Jesus. I learned about the ten commandments too. I just don't believe in your God now. I believe there was a man called Jesus who did magic back then. He learned it in Egypt his first 13 years of life when he lived there. The ten commandments are good rules no matter what religion you are. Well no all of them. I do have Gods to attend to that isn't your God and all but most of them are still good.

Good question!
But think about these:
Jews for Jesus = Vegetarians for Hamburgers
God? He or She?
Church? Christianity? Jesus? Dying?
What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?
Does Imacculate Conception = "VIRGIN BIRTH"?
Google Imacculate Conception and learn something.
What else do you falsely believe, Immaculate Deception?
Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .
If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.
Can Gods die?
If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?
Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?
No Eternal sacrifice, big deal for a day!
If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.
If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!
Life after death is like virginity after childbirth.
If the flesh of Jesus died, what was seen walking and talking on Sunday?
If you believe this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to believe it too to validate you.
Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.
Believing and not thinking is like choosing a mental illness and becoming truly lost.

Why are you so afraid to accept Krishna or Rama or Buddha or Allah or one of the other entities? They are all the so-called children of God. I think the one who is afraid here is you who wants to believe in a mythical person. You have no proof about his existence other than what is in the New Testament. Jesus ain't no more a saviour than the rest of them. If you want to believe it, it is fine but go around telling others what to believe. God didn't give any commandments either.

That is your belief system, most of the rest of the world considers it to be simple minded and not a real or valid basis for life.
By the way, you should read the Bible and question your faith and the preachers of your faith. That is one of the commandments of Jesus. The last thing He wanted was blind faith.

They are not afraid they are lazy. It is not easy to live a life as Jesus commanded and many perceive that even if you do so there is no 100% assurance you will be saved.
The only option open to you is to lead by example and not by preaching. May God bless you.

Burn that bible and unfetter the shackles that religion has put on your mind. Be a humanist, and enjoy life. The devil and god are only hallucinations possessing your mind, preventing you from being a normal human being.

People are not afraid of the message. I think people are afraid of the carriers of the message getting carried away like a telemarketer. It can be quite off-putting.
Other than that, the message is beautiful. Even if some people present it with enough force to hurt others.
