No if in the rare case that a woman gets pregnant from rape she should not be forced to deliver the child..
I support abortion though so...*shrugs*
There are a lot of people who shouldn't have kids but do. They say that adoption is better. But then its not because the woman has to give up 9 months of her life for a child she never wanted. A lot of places wont let you work if you are pregnant as well so the woman may lose her job. And then after the baby is born it will be another unwanted child in the system. The kid probably will wind up bounced around from foster family to foster family...If I was an unwated kid and would have to chose between no one loving me and being aborted I'd pick aborted...

Absolutely not! A woman should not have to go through that kind of pain and such a final and life changing event as a constant reminder of the torture she's already lived through once!
Also, I know that plenty of women would resent the child too, and that wrecks at least 2 lives.
The sad fact though that in some countries, due to religion, she IS obliged to have the child for religious reasons. I think Ireland is one of those countries where any abortion is illegal. Also in Muslim countries a woman can be killed for being raped, and unfortunately a pregnancy is pretty conclusive evidence that she is no longer a virgin.
It is sad that these things happen in the world and that in this day and age women are still often second class citizens who must succumb to unjust laws created by men.
I believe that any woman who is pregnant due to rape should have the choice, and the opinion of the father/rapist should not be considered. (in consentual sex and resulting pregnancy I think the man should have some say)
TEENMOMMY - I know at least 2 women who have become pregnant from rape, one from gang rape and torture which left her scarred for life. Do you really think that a 13 year old girl who has gone through this should then go through the agony of birth and the guilt of adoption as well? I suggest you speak to some real victims to understand the real emotional toll rape has.

I believe in any situation that it is a personal choice...I personally would not do it but that is my choice to make. In the situations that you describe, I would say that even I may decide to have an abortion. Those are hard situations to be in and I actually have a family member that this happened to...she was raped be an uncle and had the baby...the baby died shortly after birth and it was very devastating to everyone...the whole situation was!! Not everyone is going to think abortion is ok but I believe in certain situations that it is almost necessary for the mental well being of the mother.

I don't think she should be "obligated" to have the child but...it's also not the childs fault it was conceived. I would hope the woman would carry the baby to term and place it for adoption instead of aborting it.And I would hope if a family member raped a woman that the woman would report it to the police asap so that person could be locked away for a long, long time.

First off, I'msorry, I accidently clicked the bad question button. yeah, that was me, and I didn't mean it.
And no, no woman should be forced to deliver a child they don't want, whether it was through consensual sex or forced intercourse. But of course, I think if it came down to a choice, i would defend the raped woman's right because she had no part in the decision to make this child. The bottom line is a woman shouldn't be forced to do anything she doesnt want to do with her body. If people are against it religiously, then why don't they let her deal with God, rather than them trying to deal with God for her.

Standard procedure of hospitals when a female is raped - not only do they do a rape kit to get samples of DNA to identify the rapist, pictures are taken, and the victim is also given a blood pregnancy test, along with a day after pill.
This is only when the rape is reported. When a rape isn't reported, then it is not only near impossible to charge the rapist, but the victim also faces pregnancy.
The pro-lifers who are voting for abortion to be illegal, are still fully adamant about there being exceptions to the rule. In pregnancies that are life-threating to the mother, or birth defects of the unborn, and rape are those exceptions.
Yes, abortion is wrong. Because no matter how the child was created, it is still a soul.
However, if the pregnancy was prevented in the first place - by a victim reporting the rape immediately - there would be no abortion choice.

Absolutely not! If she does not want to carry it then in no way should she be forced. Do people have any idea how bad that could psychologically damage a women to have to carry something which is the product of a horrible act of violence? The depression alone can cause her and the baby severe damage. I believe that no matter what the situation is, every women should have the right to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy.

I am not religious, it doesn't' take a genius to know that abortion is killing a baby. No, the woman is not "obligated" to carry the baby to full term. Do you know how rare it is to actually conceive a child from rape. Less than 3% of women raped, actually become pregnant. Your body usually doesn't let it happen. And out of those 3% that conceived, it probably wasn't' forced sex, and they probably got some kind of pleasure from it. Whether it was mental or physical. And as for "severe harm", (tubal pregnancy) many, if not all, do not survive to term anyways, the baby cannot grow in a Fallopian tube for very long. In some rare cases, the baby actually moves down into the uterus, making it a successful pregnancy. So I say no, there is NO point at which an abortion is "OK".

I'd like to know the statistics of women who are raped and end up conceiving. I keep hearing this as an excuse to have an abortion, but really...how often does it happen?
To answer your question, yes, I believe they should carry the baby to term. Fortunately, I've never been in this situation, so I can say this now. If it ever did happen (God forbid) I might be singing a different tune. I'd like to think, though, that I'm a big enough person to realize that it's not the baby's fault he was conceived, and that I should give him a chance at life.

Sorry but I will never say it is EVER okay to kill a poor innocent baby. That is just wrong in any situation. She's killing a part of herself. Abortion causes JUST AS MUCH if not more pain than any avoidance of pregnancy and birth could. Trust me, I found out the very very hard way. It is my only regret in life. Let the babies live. Life is so very precious and it is God's will. If there is a pregancy there IS a life. Abortion is MURDER.
