If she has never been out doors don't let her start. Once they get a taste for the 'wilds' you won't be able to keep her in. It's a safety issue.
Second floor, she could probably just jump.

She'll definitly take a run for it if given the oppurtunity. My best friend was cat sitting for me while i went on a cruise. they opened the door and she ran out and jumped off the balcony to get outside. I would definitly be careful. Cats are use to climbing trees and jumping down. 2nd story of a building is no different.

She is after the bugs she sees on the screen door. Do not let her out. Try playing with her with some string to keep her mind off the bugs.

Why don't you stare at it up close up and think from a cat's point of view? Seriously. Check and see if you can see your reflection. Cats seeing their reflection think that it's another cat. Can you see a road with cars going by? The little things are what cats are curious about.

I worry about the screen giving through so I only open it enough so that he can't get out. If I'm home I'll open it more but I won't chance it when I leave.
