A candy bar after practice? Seriously. I am a personal trainer and played D1 AA college football so I have a little bit of input for this question. Candy bars will give you a burst of energy, but leave you tired after about an hour and a half. Eat a sandwich or a meal about 1 hour before to let your body digest. Have some fruit about 30 min before. Also, drink either a powerade type drink or water to make sure you are starting hydrated. After, eat some protien rich meal to aid in muscle recovery. Candy bars actually aren't terrible to eat then, but they wont offer your body much recovery. Experts say a glass of choc milk is a perfect protien/ carb ration. Eat some veggies and meal as well. Enjoy and good luck this season.

Eat anything with a lot of protein, like chicken. Try to stay away from junk food. And don't pay any attention to the no-carb bullcrap, as a football player you need carbs.

1. You should eat a healthy meal, or maybe some water.
2. You should NOT eat a lot of junk, you will get serious cramps and you won't have as much energy from all that junk!

a candy bar before practice it has high calories and youll need it all that energy also liquids to break down sugar. if youre going to be with out water for a while . this might sound crazy but it works eat a teaspoon of salt it makes youre body think it dont have water so it'll retain water. might feel thirsty but its just the taste.

Pasta and carbs. Maybe the reason you feel lazy is because your not getting enough sleep, or that your not that interested in football anymore.
