There are actually three versions of the Ten Commandments, Jewish, Catholic (and Lutheran), and Protestant.

With the new revelations of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in the early Catholic Church, a slightly different emphasis was placed on different commandments.

Then 1500 years later, the Protestant in objecting to certain Catholic practices, once again changed the emphasis of the Ten Commandments.

+ Jewish Ten Commandments (before 1000 BC)

1. I am the Lord your G-d who has taken you out of the land of Egypt.
2. You shall have no other gods but me.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your G-d in vain.
4. You shall remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy.
5. Honor you mother and father.
6. You shall not murder.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness.
10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

+ Catholic (and Lutheran) Ten Commandments (about 100 AD)

1. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me. 2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
3. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; in it, you shall not do any work.
4. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.

The ten commandments are found in the first seventeen verses of the twentieth chapter of the Bible book of Exodus. In simple terms these are:

The first four relate to our worship of Jehovah aka God
# 1 Give our creator exclusive devotion
# 2 Do not use images in worship
# 3 Always respect and dignify Jehovah's name
# 4 Allow time to concentrate on spiritual matters, without distraction

The fifth relates to family life
# 5 Children respect your parents

The next four concern our relationship with our fellow man
# 6 Do not murder
# 7 Avoid adultery
# 8 Do not steal
# 9 Tell the truth

The tenth is unique, in that it causes us to search our own hearts and look at our own motives
#10 Shun covetousness

For more information on exact wording pickup a Bible. If you are interested in learning more about the Bible and Jehovah either go to http://watchtower.com or preferably go and find a flesh and blood witness(remember just because someone claims to be someone on line does not make them who they say they are.

Go look outside a courthouse... I'm sure they're posted there.

(I'm not a Christian, but I still know them without pasting!)
One god, no images, don't steal, don't lie, don't murder, obey your folks, don't use god's name improperly, don't work on the sabbath, don't be adulterous, and don't covet your neighbor's ***!

There is more than one set, if you read carefully. The above is the popular version.

I remember reading a survey of how many Christians could list the 10 Commandments, but not everyone could!

dear moses:

1. You shall have no other Gods before me.

2. You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

6. You shall not murder.

7. You shall not commit adultery.

8. You shall not steal.

9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s."
