Deut 14:22-27
22 Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23 Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the LORD your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice. 27 And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own.

If you tithe, are you sure you are doing in the manner here described? When was the last time you bought beer or other "fermented drink" and threw yourself a party before the Lord with your first 10%?

No. I am a Christian.

Tithing is not a law for Christian dispensation.

Levites are the ones who were ordered by God to receive tithes. How can we be sure that one comes from that tribe when the NT probits the useless ancestry tracing?

No, we don't. We believe in the motto "because we may, not because we must". Our pastor says that everytime offering is taken - occasionally he slips up and reverses the two but he always catches it. We do give when there are special offerings, which in our denomination is about 4 or 5 times a year. We also give to charities or donate our time to charitable causes.

Tithing was an Old Testament ordinance, which helped to keep the theocratic nation of Israel running. Today, we are to give "as we have been prospered." (1 Cor 16:2)

2 Corinthians 9:6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Christ said "Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's due." Tithing is to support a church's hierarchy. God has no use for money.

My husband and I pay our tithes every paycheck. 10% of what we make goes to the church. This also includes money from financial aide for college, gifts from family/friends(birthdays, holidays, etc.), and any other money that comes to us. 10% every time. God takes care of us...everything gets paid!! Lord Bless...

Law, Christ freed us from the LAW. We give because we love God and want to be a part of his church.

yeah, it actually says don't give it to the church, but to the poor and in a feast of thanksgiving to god. Sounds good to me.
