Really it makes sense that some of the most drastic changes are over a relatively short time - the bigger the environmental pressures the faster an organism has to adapt or go extinct.

Interesting. I wonder what caused that one gene to kick into high gear and not the others. It seems that some humans are undoing the thousands of years of evolution and turning back into animals.
