I already had braces on my front 4 upper teeth.
I am already taking ibproufin for cramps and mouth pain, it only helps the cramps.
It hurts in my jawbone, near my eyes around my cheekbones.

What are some cures for this?
I go back to the dentist on Sept 20, five days after my birthday.

It is common for you have pain in your jaw. For some people taking ibuprofen for the pain may help. You may need stronger pain medication such as vicodin or take 800 mg ibuprofen every 6 hrs, but do not exceed 2400mg within 24 hr period. OK.

Your teeth will feel loose or floating in your mouth and it will hurt more when you chew with them. You will have to go thru several weeks with the pain until the teeth move to where the ortho wire wants them to. Every time your orthodontist, put a new wire or active the wire, you will experience pain which is normal and will go away. It also depend your pain threshold too. Good luck

I know your sister's pain. Right now I have braces on for 5 months. On the very first week of my braces, Ireally had a hard time chewing food but i just get used to eat. Even now if my dentist adjust it every month, my teeth still get hurts but I don't mind it and I don't take any medications, I just let it pass, anyway it's normal and it's good for it actually means that the teeth is already adjusting and the treatment's working

It is going to for a few days to a week. You will need to eat soft foods and liquids for a few days until the pain starts to go away. It is from your teeth being moved by the braces and it is going to take some time to get used to. Also just to warn you. You will have to go back every so often to get them tightened and that is going to make them hurt too. But take it from someone who has had braces. It is worth it. I love how straight my teeth are and I get tons of compliments on my new smile. GOOD LUCK.

sorry babe, nothing you can really do. you're actually lucky, i got braces on all of my top teeth at once, then a week later i got all of the bottom ones.

it feels like if you chew too much that all of your teeth will come out. the pain will subside in a couple of days.

next time you go back, as soon as you leave, go out to eat, chew chew chew, that will help the soreness. also ask your ortho if you can chew any type of gum, if you chew it immediately after the tightening it wont be as bad.

i had braces for 4 years, no pain no gain.
it's all worth it in the end.

I Had four teeth removed one of which was a molar and then had braces put on. It sucks I know and I had to blend bloody carrots and peas just to get them down. Fight through the pain, drink the blood and focus on something else. It will only hurt for a coulpe of weeks until your teeth adjust to the preassure.

The orthodontist should have given you some gel-type stuff to rub on your gums. If he or she didn't, then ask for it next time you're there because it helps a lot. Other than that, you're just going to have to tough it out. It will feel better in a few days once your teeth have started to shift.

I found that the more I chewed, the sooner it got better. Ask your orthodontist if these is a gum you can chew that wont get stuck to the brackets. In Australia they make a gum for this purpose. I hurts to start with but helps them feel better sooner.

Also paracetamol or ibuprofen are good at recommended doses.

Don't eat anything hard, stick to soup. Also rub novacaine on your teeth and gums, it will numb it. Along with advil or ibuprofen.
