No nay-saying here. if I want a starwars wedding, what sort of ideas do any of you guys have? Do you think it'd be more expencive than a normal one or less expencive? do you think I could get the priest to dress like yoda or sometihng or is that too far. don't think I'm crazy please :) I'd like something sorta traditional and pretty but starwars-y too, you know? we wanted Anakin and Padme as bride and groom. so any ideas?

I think its a great idea. You have one day to make special and your own so I say go ahead. I have had so many people giving me grief about my wedding theme so I know where you are coming from.
For ideas...Make wedding favours that are star wars themed. Like keychains or other memorabilia.

I highly doubt you'd be able to get a priest (or any minister in a major religion) to dress as Yoda.
How about this - instead of making this a literal Star Wars wedding, how about making the elements "Star Wars inspired"? Have your wedding dressed designed after Padme's and formal clothes for the groom based on Anakin's, but don't try to turn yourselves into the characters. Choose floral arrangements like things you've seen in the movies, perhaps find unique dishes / flatware for dinner, etc. You could go a bit further for the reception.
My best suggestion is to not copy anything exactly and to avoid the, uh, non-human element of Star Wars. Otherwise, you are turning it into something I would expect to see at a convention and it'll look more like a joke than a serious expression of your love.

I agree with using elements of the movie in the wedding. I would not at all mess with the church part. Leave the Star Wars for the reception. A themed wedding is cool. Get a Star Wars cake made. Upon entry into the hall, have the theme playing and "fight" with the light sabers to the table. I would put some foil stars on the tables for centerpieces and maybe a few figurines? Maybe even the backdrop at your wedding table can be stars (like the screensaver on windows) What about a Star wars cumberbun for the groom? MAybe you could even add some elements to your boquet.

I think it's a fabulous idea, but only if both the man and woman want it. I don't think a priest would change his traditional garb. But I do have a vision of a couple exiting the church through crossed light sabers (like they do at military weddings), and then you could enter at the reception the same way. Oh, it would be so cool to have a bar set up at a restaurant like a cantina! Oh, you're making me jealous! I can just envision cool invitations and decorations.... you'll be able to get cheap wedding favours, because you can use those packs made for birthdays that are always on clearance...

I think that would be great! You could have guys dressed in Clone Trooper armor to act as bodyguards, incase someone like Nute Gunray, the Trade Federation Viceroy, tries to send battle droids to assassinate you (since you are Padme)
"What about the senator from Naboo? Is she dead yet?" -Nute Gunray, Episode II
OK, maybe that's a bit too far, but still, I'm all for the entire Star Wars thing! Hope things turn out alright!

glow in the dark condoms could double as light sabers on the honeymoon lol
if you decide to have this type of wedding, a church is not the place for it, i doubt you would find a priest willing to make a mockery of a wedding in this fashion in a church
best bet it to rent a hall and have the justice of the peace marry you. that way the reception will be in the same place and you could save money on decorations
i am having a little trouble understanding how you would want the most important day of your life to be star wars themed
maybe you could just have star wars themed couples party before the wedding (instead of bachelor/ bachelorette)

You know what? Anyone who doesn't want a star wars wedding is stupid. I've been to atleast 30 and in every one it was better than any regular wedding you could go to. Don't let these fools dissuade you. And if you're still looking for an Anakin email me ;)

One idea is to have your wedding guests also dress like star wars characters. There is nothing wrong with having the priest dress as a character also. You be Princess Leia and have your fiance be whatever character he likes. Have fun and let your imagination go wild with this.

The music from Star Wars makes great processionals and recessionals. I've seen that done a few times.
