It's a great way to not think about anything else. It can give a sense of control in a scary world. It might not feel good exactly but it is known and predictable and can be comforting.

The head of the baby can be positioned downwards as early as 7 1/2 months of your pregnancy (29 weeks). But that doesn't rule out that the head is already 'engaged' on the birthing canal already. How does your doctor explain the matter to you?...If he meant that the baby is simply positioned head down, then, that is a 'good sign' that you can have a normal delivery. I believe that there is no need for you to be scared about it since you know the signs of the onset of true labor. Also, you have to consider here that even if you alreay experience being pregnant before, your experience now could be entirely different from the first. Although it's a good basis for you since you are trying to be careful and watchful now. I am pretty sure that you will 'know' when your time has come. Take care and have a safe delivery.

People can have neurological deficits and or conditions such as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD or ADHD) Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder , or varying forms of Autism. Some kids will do that to get their own way or acting out. Just hope there are an abundance of pillows or soft surfaces around. Sometimes they even use objects etc to do the deed.

You know, you probably won't believe me, but I SWEAR I was just thinking about this a few days ago.
I saw a friend of mine forget something, and as she turned around to go get it, she smacked herself in the head.
I don't understand this behaviour, or why it seems to be so universal for when one feels petty shame for something. I guess naturally your body just responds with agression toward the source of your frustration, which in this case, happens to be your own brain.
That's my best guess.

They hit there-selves in the head because their head is itching, and they don't want to scratch their scalp.
