Searching the web the only 2 hits I found were for Sweden. Familysearch.com only came up with Lars Viedorph born in Sweden in 1825.
This can make sense. The Swedish vikings had a large influence on the early development of Russia through trade, including what we call the country. They were called the Rus. They also spread south along the long navigable rivers into the Slav countries.
The only soundex variation that Familysearch.org came up with was Widoff which is also all Swedish.

during the time of catherine the great ,in russia....entire areas of the ukraine were setttled and brought into cultivation by "german immigrant/farmer/settlers!!!!in wave after wave of immimgration and exoduses there after!!!!german is your must likely nation!!!!!
