should family members see each other naked?

Under normal cirumstances I would not think this is a good idea. My step daughter(18) sees her mom and saw me once ( our bathroom door doesnt lock and she doesnt believe in knocking) as I was preparing to shower. She apologized and quickly shut the door as I cursed up a storm. After I calmed down she told me to relax and it wasnt the end of the world and that I wasnt the first naked man she saw. Her mom said i overreacted as well but admonished her daughter to knock in the future.

actually i dont think its wrong for yr kids to see u naked,its no big deal. i actually think its a good thing,children shud feel comfortable about there bodies,about nakedness,why shud it be pervy or disgusting in yr own home . dont ya think that in itself is sending bad signals to yr kids!
thats half of teh problem with society,we make a huge deal about being naked,body image. i beleive if we were all a lil less inhibited and more confident with our bodies it wud be a better place to live! im not saying flaunt it up the street or anything but surely in teh privacy of yr own home there isnt anything wrong with it??

These things happen, but at her age, she should know enough to knock on a closed door. She is a bit old for that, even if you were her biological father.

Nudity in a family is a matter of individual preference. However, I think most sociologists would tell you that an occasional accidental sighting is not a big deal. It just shouldn't be too common. Just because SOME are comfortable with it, that doesn't mean ALL family members are, and their feelings should be considered as well.

Each person's rights end at the point where the next person's rights begin. If you don't like it you don't have to allow it.

Puritan morality says no, you shouldn't even see yourself naked and that you should really be ashamed if anyone else does. It's a real load of crap.

The rest of the world doesn't think it's a big deal, and there is no harm as long as it is not sexual, like trying to see them naked. It was an accident and she now knows you are not comfortable with her barging in on you, so there is no need for you to be upset. Everyone has their own comfort levels.

Yeah that sounds a little uncomfortable to me too.
I also have an 18 year old step daughter,and I really try to make sure there is no chance of us seeing each other naked.
If it still bothers you, from now on announce that you are headed to the shower.

It's not like there's incest involved. I don't think family members should make an -effort- to see eachother naked but if you're going to be living in the same house with someone, it should be recognized as something that might happen.

Its normal for mothers and daughters or sisters to dress together. What happened with you was just an accident. If it happens all the time though, I would start to worry.

Sounds like you overreacted, but I agree that especially as kids get older, everyone needs their privacy. Kids shouldn't see their parent of opposite sex naked.

It really isnt a big deal, its only the pervies that make it seem to be. Usually the ones that hide behind some religious nature as well.... THEY make naked bodies seem dirty.

I personally don't like the idea. While I was growing up, my whole family always changed in the privacy of their rooms, I never saw anyone with their birthday suit........to this day, I can't change in front of anyone, maybe when I get married I will in front of my husband.

no longer something technical approximately it. specific My Mum Dad and brother all see me bare many many times and that i've got many times seen them bare additionally - getting replaced or in the bathing room. it relatively is not any massive deal
