Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a complex mental health condition that causes emotional instability, relationship problems, a low sense of self-worth, and fear of abandonment. Other common symptoms include problems managing anger and recurring self-destructive or suicidal behaviors.
The negative or destructive behaviors of borderline personality disorder are intense. These behaviors occur over a long period of time, often in combination with disorders such as depression, anxiety, or other mental health problems. People with this disorder often have problems with substance abuse, gambling, or eating disorders.
The cause of borderline personality disorder is not well-understood. It may be a result of an imbalance of chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters, which help regulate mood. Mood is also influenced by genetic and environmental influences.
Borderline personality disorder is 5 times more common among people whose parents or siblings have the disorder. 3 It is also seen more often in families who have other mental health conditions such as antisocial personality disorder, substance abuse problems, and mood disorders like depression.
People who develop this disorder often have experienced significant childhood trauma, such as sexual, physical, or emotional abuse; neglect; or early loss of or separation from a parent. When this trauma is combined with certain personality traits, such as reacting poorly to stress or having problems with anxiety, the risk for developing borderline personality disorder increases.
Although experts know that people with borderline personality disorder have impaired function in parts of the brain, it is still not clear whether the problems are caused by—or are a consequence of—the disorder.

You should not have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder at age 14. One of the criteria for any personality disorder is that the person is at least 18. One of the most prevalent causes of this disorder is childhood sexual abuse. Borderline personality disorder consists of creating continuous drama in your life, seeing every thing as black or white with no middle ground, feelings of emptiness, continual need for attention even if it is negative attention. You should see a psychiatrist to find out if you have this disorder.

Read the wikipedia
yes you could still have it
it's caused by your choices and your behaviours in response to your environment
you will have it until you choose to behave differently in response to your environment
it tends to get better with time, as people grow up
however, I have had a patient who was 60 who still was borderline, manipulative and self harming

Your doctor is the one to answer your questions. As far as I am aware though, there is no cure for BPD. It can get better with lots and lots of therapy. There is no medication to treat it.
