If you don't get your proper nutrition or vitamins yes, it will affect your hair, even might lose some. Be careful and eat correctly

When you diet, take a multi vitamin.

Also, lower your carb intake and keep your carbs whole grains and low glycemic fruits and veggies. Eat some form of protein with each meal. A good balanced diet like that should give your body the nutrients it needs to keep your body going like it should, but lowering the carb intake will help your body start buring the fat better.

Don't forget to drink your water. That's important too as it keeps your metabolism up and your body flushed.

The slimmer you get, the more hair you grow. The purpose is to keep the body warm. If you lose body fat, hair growth makes up for it. I suppose everyone's different though.
