The spirit goes to be with the Lord, but the new body won't until the resurrection. Read 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verses 35 - the end of the chapter.

Try and read it in a New international version which is easy to understand.

God Bless you!

Paul wrote to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Although there are some people who believe that we go into some sort of "soul sleep" when we die, I don't agree. I think upon the instant of death, we are in the Lord's presence.

At the resurrection.

1 Corinthians 15:52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54  So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Immediately your spirit, which is you outside of the flesh body, returns to YHVH. To be absent from the flesh is to be present with the Lord.

The dead that are raised at the resurrection are those who are spiritually dead, I'm sure you know a lot of them now. We are all raised into our spiritual bodies for the next earth age and hopefully the eternity if we are worthy.

John 11:25-26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

Since Jesus doesn't lie we will be alive in Him always not lay in the ground molding....Jim
