I have a baby kitten that has an infected eye ((were guessing that because it has yelloe/green pus and its eye is shut)) I couldnt go to the vet earlier and now i can but its 8:22 there are some emergency vets that are open 24 hours a day. So is this that much of an emergency that we need to take the baby into an emergency vet?!?
Please i need answers soon and Thank you

beast- i kept the mom that was pregnant and she just had kittens im taking care of them until they are old enough to give away which should be in 4-6 weeks. Im going to keep one of them for myself and the mother cat.

Hi Sakura (hope that's your name)...I would consider calling the 24 hour vet and asking them this question as it is difficult to understand the extent of the eye disease. The vet techs will then ask you more questions regarding the infection in order to determine if urgent care is required or if this can wait until tomorrow. They also will advise you if you can temporarily treat at home otherwise please don't do anything as it could cause more harm. I hope this will be the best solution until the kitten is treated.

put a wet warm wash cloth over the eye for a while to help it drain and to clean it. Make a point to go first thing tomorrow to see if it has something in it. If the kitty won't leave the eye alone, then take it to a 24 hour vet emergency clinic.

I would take the kitten to the emergency vet immediately I would think it is an infected but I am not for sure.
So I would take it to the Emergency vet as soon as you can.
Hope they can give you a treatment when you get there or tell you what it is exactly.

It is probably very uncomfortable and would love a visit to the vet, but if the expense is prohibitive and you will take it to a regular vet tomorrow, polysporin eye drops or other human eye drops for infection can be purchased for less than 10 dollars at your local drug store and will give relief until the morning.

I agree with the wiping of the kitty's eye with a warm wet cloth. You don't know if there may be a foreign body in the eye so don't put any pressure on it. I feel pretty confident that you can wait until tomorrow as long as the kitten's behaviour is normal. As long as he is not lethargic or trembling, or not eating or drinking and is walking normally. Good luck. I know it is a big worry.

I think an infected eye can wait until tomorrow. Sometimes in many areas 24 vets cost more. I would wait. My cats eye gets infected alot and sometimes I just clean it myself and he never goes to the vet but he is a adult cat. I think waiting until tomorrow will be fine.

i wonder if you can use some saline solution, the same kind of stuff you can use on baby' its a kind of salty fluid but it wont sting the eye just wipe from inside the eye and out but dint use it again or you will only make it worse, then throw it out and use another cotton ball and do the same thing.. If she wont leave it alone put a little container over her head with a little hole in the bottom so she can still have her head poking out. but nothing too heavy because she is only a little one, maybe a Small Chinese container.

wash the eye from the inside to the outside, with a clean damp cloth every few hours until morning, and take to vet in the morning.
