It takes 21 days from the time it is laid. The female usually lays 1 egg a day and starts to sit on the nest when there are 5 or 6 eggs. The eggs hatch in the same order laid. I bought 2 zebra finches 3 months ago, and I now have 6 babies! I finally had to take out the nest last week and there were another 6 eggs in there already. It was too soon for her to have another brood. Good luck

14 days is a pretty good average .That is to be counted from the day the bird start to sit on the eggs.
