Why do so many look down their noses at people who work for McDonalds or other fast food places? I think that everyone should have to work at a job like that so that they don't think that they're better just because they have a bigger paycheck. What do you think?

I'm not a fast food worker but around the same pay, and about the same pecking order; I'm a janitor at Toys R us. I do have a few relatives who have worked or do work in fast food. Pitifully, I dont' even make enough to pay taxes, but damn sure would be paying them if I could, because that's my duty as a part of this country.

i dont see why anybody should look down their noses at people that work in fast food.
i worked at dennys years ago and i made really good money. not in checks, but the tips. when was the last time that you thought about tipping somebody that works fast food.
i think that it doesnt matter what the job is. its not welfare and thats the important thing.
not all of us were made to be white collar workers. some of us work to make ends meet and to stay off the welfare line. sometimes there just arent any other jobs available. sometimes a person is on disability and most other places wont hire someone who has health problems like a bad back or something like that.
my hats off to the fast food workers. they are the ones that get up early and go to work so that you can have coffee on the way to your work.

I respect people who work at fast food restaurants, but I disagree with some of the health standards used by the affilates of the franchises themselves. Moreover, most fast food places import beef and other meat products in order to reduce cost, however, this meat has to meet a much lower standard than the USDA issues grade A meat. There is no reason, however, to take it out on the common employee. As a matter of fact, many people who work at fast food restaurants for extended periods of time actually make decent money and have an easier time getting a good job down the road (at least in the restaurant business) than people who do not. It is the minority of fast food servants who make a bad name for them all by bieng dumb and lazy (and who knows what else). Fast food is food bought under 'no' conditions, buyer beware of the drive through

people look down on any person especially fast food workers because of the fact that the job they are doing is so simple. Not to be mean in anyway but the majority of (special people) mentally challenged people in my town work for fast food places. I think this is great though, cause at least businesses are not turning them away for a job. But yeah, people shouldn't look down on people that work jobs like that, its mean. Not everyone can afford to go to college or for that fact, get approved for a loan so they can get degrees and be doctors.

I personally admire them for working there. Number one... just as you say, they are earning a living rather then complaining that there are no jobs available anywhere, and you mention that McDonald's is hiring they just turn up their noses and say "There's no money in working there". When I was young I took any job I could including setting pins in a bowling alley, soda jerk, janitor, etc... and it was good learning experience for me. It taught me how to get along with others and how to deal with all types of people. It also taught me respect for others, which is something you rarely see these days.

Because they probably did not have to start at end of the food chain. We all have to start somewhere. Just think of this way, they may think that they are better than everyone, but at least you know that you are actually better them. Your eyes are not crossed looking down your nose all of time. Creates a very limited view.

I'm happy that McDonalds gives people the opportunity to work. But I would not want anyone to tell me I have to work there. If you want someone to tell you what you are going to do for a living, maybe you should move to a communist country.

I don't know why anyone would think poorly of anyone who's working for a living. I have worked fast food before, so I understand how rough it can be.

to look down upon the service industry people is to be a total thankless creep. In our world, we need every segment of the work force. I usually laugh and joke with the McDonalds folks; I know them as good and responsible young people.

It doesn't matter where you work, it matters if you are HAPPY. And for those assholes that turn their noses up at you, you're going to find them in ANY profession. Don't sweat it, and who says they have a bigger paycheck? I know the manager at our local McDonald's and he makes more than I do!
