If a person is biased, their position tends to favor one side over the other. So, for example, a person with strong political ties to one party may write an article on an official from a rival party in an unflattering light (justified or not).

Generally if something has bias, it's probably not the best thing to get information from.

Bias means you already have an idea on the subject and either like it or dislike it. This idea will affect your response to it especially if you are judging a competition say the olympics and didn't like Russians so you have a bias against them but you like the people from Jamaica so you give them a higher score. That is bias also.

favoring one side of and issue or person over another.

A bias is a prejudice in a general or specific sense, usually in the sense for having a preference to one particular point of view or ideological perspective. However, one is generally only said to be biased if one's powers of judgment are influenced by the biases one holds, to the extent that one's views could not be taken as being neutral or objective, but instead as subjective.

It means the direction your thoughts flow.

For instance, if you own a credit card company, then you are biased in favor of people who collect debts. If an issue like making the bankruptcy laws tougher came up, then you would be biased toward making them tougher. You would be against any laws that made it easier for people to not pay their debts.
