First off. I suggest reading the bible. The New Living Translation is a great one. Its the only one I've found were you cannot misinterpret the scriptures. Try 1 Corinthians:12. I do believe a lot of people misunderstand the true meaning of tongues. Tongues means a different language. Back in the day we did not have one universal language"like English" so the gift of Tongues was blessed to the teacher speaking so all of the different tribes could understand them. Secondly, if your saved....the Holy Spirit is already there. A lot of people will disagree with me and that's OK.

No, some people are uncomfortable with tongues and refuse the gift and God is gracious about it. It is a very good gift to have especially if you pray with people for healing or have an intercessory prayer calling.

As it is a powerful tool for good it also is often faked by the evil one or the disturbed. If you feel uncomfortable around this lady. It could be just that she has emotional problems and had a genuine gift but is inappropriate about when and where to use it or she may have a deeper spiritual problem. She needs to be prayed over by those who have a gift of discernment.

In theory yes, but there are stipulations given in scripture. I believe that the gift of tongues refers more to foreign languages, when it's considered invalid because there is not an interpreter around I think it's because someone could give an interpretation. And in early Acts, when the apostles spoke and everyone heard it in their own language, they didn't hear gibberish. Plus there are other religions that have the concept of speaking in tongues so if it's so easily faked by those that don't have the Spirit, It alone is not a proof.

Well it is supposed to be the evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

What does a person who only goes to Church to get into Heaven look like?

Speaking in tongues is a private prayer language. It is the least of all the gifts. It is very useful when I don't know how to pray about an issue that is on my heart.
Tongues can be used publicly when there are prophets and when one speaks in tongues another interprets.
The gifts that are much needed and are lacking in many churches today are the Word of Knowledge, Revelation, Healing, Miracles, and Prophecy. These are given to us to minister to each other and to demonstrate the power of God in our midst and to win others to Christ.

I will tell you
Talking in tongues is very special and it works this way.

You have 10 people in a room, all born and raised in different lands of the world.

A teacher speaks to them, each of the 10 hears the words spoken in his own language, from the town he was raised, and marvel that the others in the room can understand the teacher!

This is speaking in tongues, and there will be at least 144,000 that can do it.

In I Corithians chapters 12 and 14 tells all about speaking in tongues!
Tongues are used to edify the body of Christ!
If this woman, you claim is faking speaking in tongues, curses at her children then God will deal with her!
Keep your eyes on the Lord and not on this woman!

NO. Talking in tongues just means different languages that came from when the people tried to build that tower in babble. God confused their tongues so they could not understand eachother and could not finish the tower.

I think it's more a case of a past life carry over. Proof of the Holy Spirit is something completely different and wonderful and it is mostly a personal experience. It is a sense of such inner peace that your perception of this world truly changes
