I was looking at my favorite movie Shallow Hal. When you see a person do you judge that person by being shallow because their appearences means everything or looking for someone to fit your high standards.

Well, it is neither. Just because you prefer someone who has certain looks, doesnt make you shallow. We all are attracted to specific things, appearances are what you notice first about a person, and then you get to know them better. If you dont like them, you will not be in a relationship just for the looks, because it will never work. However, you will never try to get to know better, a person you are not attracted to, because the interest isnt there.
If you are looking for a Model type, you might have too high of standards, but I dont think having standards or knowing what you like is being shallow.

I agree with Joe C, I think high standards are what makes a shallow person, as what you seen with the movie Shallow Hal. Also let me add In, that's a great movie and Jack Black Is soooo funny, even Gwyneth Paltrow did a good job!

Here's what I think you're shallow if most of your standards are based on things you can tell before talking to a person and you won't adjust any standards for anyone, even if they're super nice and would be great for you. If you give people enough of a chance to talk to you and use that to decide on someone, then you're probably okay. And yes, some people you just never want to talk to, but some you'll be pleasantly surprized by.

There is no difference, really. But I can see where having high standards means being very very very picky, whereas being shallow means you only go for the Hotties and consider average-looking or ugly people as losers.

Shallow is not caring about anyone and high standards is expecting a lot of things.

If you have high standards, you're very interested in the qualities someone has and their character. Shallow people are only interested in looks.

Shallow is only seeing the outside or the instide of a wallet. High standards is a nice way of saying the same thing

High standards are what shallow people call it.

Being shallow is not wanting someone because of something exterior or insignificant.
High Standards is looking past those things and wanting someone with those qualities they possess inside.

I thought maybe that was obvious, but I guess some of us are slower learners than others!
