I had mine out April 2006. It was removed laproscopiclly(sp?). I had hed how it was a piece of cake surgery. I was miserable. It hurt so bad to move. I was released from the hospital the same evening (as I think most people are) and the car ride hoe hurt so bad.
The WORST part of my surgery would have to be the shoulder pain. The gas they used to inflate my abdomen settled in my right shoulder and it hurt for 4-5 days. It also made my stomach so bloated and it hurt to try and pass gas.
I was only able to keepp downa few crackers for the first few days.
I felt tlike I was never going to feel better. Onabout day 5 I felt okay. I think I went back to work after 9 days.
My doctor gave me darvocet for pain, but I had a bad reaction to it and ended up only using advil for pain...this could be why the experience was not good for me.
Good luck. Hopefully I haven't scared you...just being truthful.

You answered this yourself. Non fatty food. The gallbladder is what breaks down the fat in foods. Now that it's gone, you have to stick to high fiber, lean meats, lots of fruits and vegetables. Also, be on the look out for lactose intolerance. A lot of times after the gallbladder is remove, people can no longer eat dairy products.

My procedure was as simple as pie. I had laproscopic surgery. It was day surgery. In and out in a day. I didn't take the anesthesia well and was nursing at the time too...so it was rough as I had to pump all my milk out while trying to recover from surgery but I needed to get the drugs out of me for the baby's sake.
They say one in five women get gallstones after pregnancy. The pain felt like a heart attack and I was so glad it was all over and done with. Not too much pain...only four little holes, they didn't hurt at all...just my stomache a bit because they actually blow you up with air under the skin so they can see what they are doing with the little scope...so just kind of like sore muscles afterwards.
It will be fine dont worry. I'm assuming you are having laproscopic....but if not...you'll be fine even if they are cutting you...it's not that bad...take the pain killers for the first 24 hours and it will be fine.

I was sore for a couple of weeks. My heartburn was gone, but still had some problems with gas..not unusual for evasive surgery. I bruised a little, but my 3 little scars are not unsightly, now. You might be held to a weight lifting restriction of 10 pounds for about 6 weeks and you might be out of work for a short time. Hopefully, like it was for me, your initial problems that required surgery will be gone and you will heal perfectly over a 6 weeks time.
Good luck and get well quickly!

everyone in my family but me......yes the pain goes away pretty quick. Recovery is much like any surgery of the abdoman, takes some time but not too bad. Sometimes you have a drain but only for a few days though my sister had it for two weeks. The main thing they complain about is that after surgery and forever after the bowels are looser......you'de think it would be good for weight loss but its not.

My husband did, and he has a bad heart. He had laser incisions. The surgeon, a woman, had to make 3 incisions because he had so many gall stones. He suffered for about 40 years. His cardiologist didn't want him to have the surgery, because of his heart condition, until the pain got too bad to bear. He has no more pain, and he did very well. Don't worry about anything. It will be okay. It is a very common operation.

My wife had it 2 years ago. The procedure is a breeze. Three small scars. Absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Just talk with your doctor to see if it's absolutely necessary. Perhaps a second opinion.
She feels better since then, but still has stomach (acid) problems that seem difficult to fix.

Two of my patients have got gall blader surgery in India. One was treated laparoscopically and the other by endoscopy. Both of them are very happy with the results.Their pain and other symptoms due to stone collection have totally gone. The surgery is called cholecystectomy.
General Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges all types of surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as spine surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website.
The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your gall bladder surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.both my patients had gone to India through the forerunners healthcare company.i strongly recommend you to talk to this company, checkout your options with surgery from them.

I had it done. No big deal. Laproscopic procedure is generally how its done and it is fast and recovery is relatively quick. Just told to watch my cholesterol in the passing years. Nothing bad has ever happened in connection in the past 10 years since it was done.
