Why do Americans have to respect other countries when we go visit their country? But when they come and visit our country they do not have to be respectful. Most of the people are. But not everybody is. I have always been curious.

(serious answer's only, please. Please only answer if you have an answer to give, not for gaming points, thank you)

We should respect other countries in the same way that we respect other's homes, when we enter in. We are guests, and we should behave as such.

It doesn't matter how "other" people behave, it matters how "YOU" behave.

I am from America and I have never been to another country but I know that if I went to one that I would be respectful. I think it is just a few arrogant people who think that they are better than people from other countries. Please don't get the wrong idea about Americans just because a few of them act that way.

Americans are not respected in most of the world. Why do I make this statement?
Because through the years I have hosted people from all over the world and they all seem to think its fashionable to sneer at Americas ignorance of the rest of the world, [ in their eyes].
They also are not grateful for the way we rush in to help, with money, when asked. But I notice that they don't refuse the help or money.
I for one, am fed up with how we are perceived.
We are still the number one country that other nations people want to come and live in.
I am fed up with people from other countrys living in our country and bad mouthing our government. If their country is so great, go back and live there.
I have traveled to other countrys and I have always shown respect for those countrys and cultures. And other Americans I have met on my travels also behaved respectfully.
I am tired of hearing that Americans do not know how to behave when traveling in other countrys. Most of that is bull.
We seem to have become a target for every one in the world to bash. Most of it is jealousy, I think. People envy our freedoms and free enterprise. They also envy Americans rights to criticize our government. Most countrys do not give their citizens the right to disagree with their policys.
I have seen a lot to admire and like in other countrys I have visited, but I was still very glad to come back home to America. There really is " No Place Like Home", right here in the U.S.

Because the notion of 'respect' is different from country to country. You cannot expect, well you can but won't get it, for people to be informed of your countrys standards.
Be thankful your country is so tolerant.

Its a good idea to respect other countries. If we don't, we could become enemies with that country, and there would be a much higher risk of terrorist attacks.

that is a crazy question. It is Americans that go to other countries and complain that they don't get all the comforts that they get at home.

Our superiority is false unless it shows up in better behavior, as well.
