It's easier as human being to place our problems on a "scape goat" than to face them head on.

Kinda funny, I was just thinking that myself. It is also funny that you used the words Devil and Scapegoat in the same sentence... anywho... It did occur to me that I might have done something wrong without the help of some satanic being... I don't understand why other people always blame the devil though.

What Christians are you hanging out with? I can honestly say I've never heard any Christian say: "The Devil made me do it"..."The Devil led me astray". Did it ever occur to you that you are stereotyping Christians in what you think they believe?

Cuz when we were kids we were indoctrinated into the idea of a bogeyman. At the same time, in many households, immersion into tortured understandings of the Christian culture commenced. I see the devil-blaming as a natural outgrowth of the type of training Christians received as infants onward.

Also, it's really easy to look outwards rather than inwards when you are in the wrong.

I hope the cheater in this instance begins to look inwards and to take responsibility for their choices.

Free will versus the devil made me do it. Hmmmm.

...We're not using him as a scapegoat, we're just stating that the Devil is the source of all evil and sin in the world. And those that say the Devil made me do it, the Devil led me astray, etc. are just too pussy to admit that they fell towards his influence.

You are correct. The devil can only be in one place at one time. He's not God. The human heart is evil, tempting us in every way possible. Saying "The devil made me do it" is just a foolish attempt to get the blame off their shoulders.

Why do you say Christians? What about sinners, they use the devil as a scapegoat also. Your just picking at Christians. Did the devil make you ask the stupid question?

The devil isn't mentioned too many times in the Bible. He's in there, but not as much as people think. He is often described as the accuser, as if he is whispering our shortcomings to God. He's also described as one who makes you doubt yourself when it comes to faith. He asks Jesus questions trying to get Him to doubt who He is.

In a my church community of over 150, I've never heard anyone cite the devil as the cause of their sin. I'm sure there are some out there that do, but I think you're kind of generalizing and stereotyping.

Satan tempts us. If we give in, we're the ones whose at fault. I'm a christian and I take responsibility for my own actions. I'll be a recovering sinner until the day I die or the Lord comes back. I urge everyone to take responsibility for your actions and repent of your sins. You know you made your own decision!

And you might want to research where the word "scapegoat" originated.

Yes, devil is not some bad phantom outside man, it is the lower self of man. He has the free will to decide his actions, so he must be responsible for all his actions.

Wow i'm dumb...i've been taking responsibility for my actions all these years.

Why do they do it? Cause they believe that humans are made in god's image, and therefore are automatically good, and any instance of evil is cause by the devil.
