My daughter is 12 years old and she wants to work in an animal pound/shelter. Is there any in Long Island , Ny?At least next to Hempstead?

Bide-A-Wee is in Wantagh.
The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is also in Wantagh.
Both are on the same street (I think it's Beltagh Ave).
If you live in Hempstead, both are within 20-25 minutes of your home. North Shore Animal League is in Port Washington, north of where you live.
Google them to find out their phone numbers and exact locations.

The only volunteer info I found was... http://www.nsalamerica.org/about/volunteer.html. They didn't give an age limit though, so you might have to call them. :-)

most pet shelters will let them volunteer if they have an adult with them.
