What is the root word of Redolent? I looked up 'Dolent' and it said depressed, but when I look up the actual word 'Redolent' it said fragrance. Also, how would I write this in a sentence?

There is no root word. It's an adjective. In a sentence: I walked through the animal shelter, the air redolent with "shelter-smell", looking for my lost dog.
