They are cute and lovable and funny to watch play. When they love you it is unconditional.

I too love the independance most cats display.
Being outside cats, I can leave for a week and not be overly worried about them. I leave them lots of food and water in a sheltered place and know they can catch extra if needed.
Plus, the cats I've had are affectionate but not clingy and they've been bubbling with personality.
And even though my cats have tended to be more vocal than most, they're nowhere near the volume that a barking dog can reach.

I like cats because they take time to get to know a person before deciding whether or not they like them. I also like cats because they are good companions- not too needy, independant, playful, and sweet. My two boys run to the front door to greet me when I come home and last summer one of them brought a live snake up to my bedroom (3rd floor) as a little "treat" for me. When does any other animal bring you anything? Cats are also good to take naps with, as bed warmers, and to catch flies and moths that come into the house.

I like cats because there independent and there not needy like dogs. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs to. I just prefere to have cats. I think they make great pets.

because even though I like dogs I want to come and go without dog slobber all over me. My cat is semi-independant, he only really loves me and only likes the rest of the family. He does not always want me to be around and would kick me to the curb if he could!!!

I love their purrs, when they're offering you comfort, when they're happy. Cats can be affectionate, but it's on their terms, like alot of people they don't show their emotions easily to everyone.
I've been fortunate to have two wonderful kitty companions the last ten years and I know my newest little girl, Jazz , will be with me til we're both older and greyer.

Because they are smart, independent, low maintenance animals who will cuddle and love on you, especially when they sense that you are in distress. They don't need babysitters or house breaks.
