You have a good point.
Are you a parent?
My 5 year old got a hold of a toy catalog this week. He is running around with it telling me all the things he wants Santa to bring him. It makes me smile.
But I agree with you. I think the gods have wider concerns then just what is going on here in our little corner. But that being said... I'll also say, " All things matter."
I'm no help at all. Am I?
:-)

Annoyed no, but you just got to laugh at some religious people, especially how gullible they are. For example ...
Religious people pray to fence poles and cheese sandwiches.
People say they talk to aliens, people say they talk to God. The first lot are called nutters, the second lot are called religious. There's a lot of money to be made out of religion and it has become a well rehearsed play over time. Religious people also pray (talk) to fence poles and cheese sandwiches.
Christians are below average intelligence and tend to be very gullible, that's why when a fence pole or a cheese sandwich has an imprint that looks like a religious face, such as God or Our Lady, millions will flock to the spot and worship. It's also known as sheep to the slaughter syndrome.
All religions are just fantasy or mythology or cults, call it whatever you wish. The main religions also have magic tricks which are called miracles in Christianity.
Just watch what happens when a magic trick occurs, for example, the fence pole or cheese sandwich image starts to weep. Just watch how the flock of followers behave. People find it hard to accept reality so escape into fantasy and that’s what religion satisfies. Miracles are all in the mind and are nothing more than trickery.

Praying isn't about what you're asking for or why. It's who you're asking. Praying is a personal conversation. God cares about you and what you care about. Like where you life and the life of your kid's are going, who is in power over your country, etc.
Is this a real question? Are you expecting a real answer? Or are you just looking for sympathizers in your non praying ways?

Prayer is a form of communication with God. It is the foundation of a relationship that we are all given the opportunity to be involved in as his children. Like children we do not always know what will truly make us happy. We get caught up in the world and think that things within will gratify us. As a child in the world I had to crawl before I could walk and as a child of God I have prayed for stupid things but somehow became closer to him and found myself beginning to pray for other things things that cannot be purchased or given by anyone but God. God hears all prayers even the stupid ones he also extends salvation to all people through the belief in Christ our Savior and yes this includes sinners and stupid people.
May God draw you closer to him through your prayer and conversations with him.

God cares about everything and everyone. I do not get annoyed when people pray for idiotic things because in God's eyes their not idiotic. God cares about everyone and all of their needs.
No wonder people like you don't want to be Christians, because you don't understand God and his nature and somehow your being fed a bunch of idiotic lies.

What's idiotic to you may be very important to someone else. There are a lot of things that are asked out of the wrong motive. The book of James speaks on that. However, if what is asked for is asked in purity of heart and reverance to God, He does hear and care.
To truly be a christian, you have to give your concerns to God to help you deal with them, whatever they might be. We can and should speak to Him about anything that troubles us. But again, what is our motive for asking?
And let's not forget that God's more concerned with our soul than our bank account. We're to build treasures in Heaven.

If people choose to pray let them pray for what they want to pray for. Maybe what seems idiotic is important to them. Although money shouldnt be. But alas maybe we should be more concerned with ourselves and our families and making this world better then little issues like this.

I read somewhere that God is interested in everything about ones life. Yet, I cannot presume to know the mind of God. Yet, if I'm in a relationship with Him, then it's cool to tell Him everything on my heart and in my mind. Then He shows me towards His goal, and from my folly. Now, annoyance is your presupposition as to what you think God cares about... So, for me? No. For you? It looks like a yes.

I get really annoyed when Christians say "I'll pray for you". They think they're going to save my soul because I'm gay and atheist lol. Normally I tell them not to bother praying for me because there's no god, and if there is, he's an evil one.

nor do i care a chavez. if he gets in the way, we'll find some reason to invade...uhm...liberate his country.
as for harvard, they are just about as overrated as some of the other "ring-knockers" who tout their institution. but if they dont learn, they do not earn....
