sounds like your sinuses, i have the same problem sometimes...the smell isn't your breath and chances are no one else will notice it..try warm compresses on your face, and one of those saline nasal sprays..it will make a world of difference.

You may have one the following problems 1. a draining abscess from a tooth in this case the infection is draining from a fistula [small tunnel] from tooth root to your mouth. The infection {pus] is draining so you have the taste but no pain. It can also be caused by a failing restoration which contains some medication put there and covered by a Restoration [filling] The other thing that can cause a metallic unpleasant taste is medications such as antibiotics. The other possibility is periodontal disease which has a foul taste and gives off a foul smell. As a dentist I can diagnosis periodontal diease on a person several feet away just by the breath odar

I don't need you to open wide and say aaaaaaah to be able to diagnose a nasty case of confibular halitostirium gongolae. This occurs when the uvula becomes rancid because of deterioration in the glottis.
Glottis infermosa can occur in young adults who have been breast-fed as infants. If mother's milk settles in the throat for more than 8 hours, it starts to ferment. The beer-like residue invades the interecostal spaces of the glottis and adhere to the lining.
Many years later, the fermented larvae hatch, and new papuas form over the rear section of the gums. Wisdom teeth aggravate the condition as they start to emerge.
As the larvae become more and more discontented, they protect themselves by releasing a gaseous substance that repels the aggressor. The side effect, of course, is bad breath.
To cure this disease, hop on one foot for ten minutes four times a day. During the first and last session, rub your tummy with one hand, pat your head with the other, and chant the mantra: "Why do I ask silly questions?"

u clearly have a serious problem here it would be sumthing i would get checked out at the doctors myself. i once knew a friend who mentioned a similar problem and he later found out he had a rare mouth disease called anti-saliveral eruptions. it was where the salival glands had got infected but it wasnt to sore but left a nasty taste in the mouth all the time. he had to have injections under his tongue and was told he was lucky how early he realised as if it had been left much longe it could have infected his tongue wich would of left the only option of amputation. good luck!...

Could be for several reasons. Too many to explain fully but the best option would be to see a dentist who could take some xrays to check for decay and periodontitis.
Possible causes are decay, leaking filling, periodontal disease, salivary gland disease, sinus problem, reflux from stomach, tongue infection as well as some other very rare causes.

It could be bacteria collecting on your tongue. try brushing it particularly at the back. You can find toothbrushes with tongue cleaners easily now.
