Yes, it really does. If you have an upset stomach (from a variety of ills), it will somehow settle the gastric juices. Don't ask me how. I prefer Perrier and Lime, however. You could always add the juice of a fresh fruit, say mango; just don't forget to shave the ginger root into it. You can buy it at almost all markets!
Oh yes. Of course the reason being: ginger is a root, and very much recognize as an herbal curative. :-)

It settles the stomach
Ginger is soothing to the stomach, I prefer ginger tea with crackers, Or I wait until the ginger ale goes a little flat.
Chamomile tea is also good for upset stomachs
so is water with a little lemon in it
I have even heard of people drinking flat warm coke (can't bring myself to drink that._.

Ginger and peppermint are just two of many "natural" remedies that have been proven to work with differing degrees of success for stomach upsets..although tea is better than soda as it has no sodium..having said that let me add that almost any white soda from 7-UP to Squirt has been reported to help to some degree..

standard ginger ale (carbonated soda) will not really help, they took out the ginger... ginger ale soda is good in general because it is lite and bubbly without being over kill if you go to ginger beer (the high octane version of the soda and still has the ginger) then it will either cure you or eat your stomach lining (depends on your tolerance level) if you eat ginger in almost any form it will relieve nausea, the easiest way is the chewy ginger candies or crystalline ginger beware of ginger teas... omg they taste nasty!

Gingerale has helped me with stomach problems - what it doesn't have is caffeine (which is dehydrating, and could make you ill if you have a fever too). Nectar juices are also good when you're ill - but gingie is best if the stomach is involved.
