I appreciate all your comments.
Heres what I have to say:
It IS tater tot sized.
It's only in my right breast, in the top towards my arm pit.
And it does move when I touch it.
And, I can grasp it with almost all my hand around it, kind of.
And I have it all the time, not just right before my period.
But I can't figure out a way to tell my mom about my suspician (we're not close at all)

The best way for you to figure this out is to see your Doctor. If you have found this tater-tot, then the Breast-self-exam is not really necessary. It's function is to find these things.
Is it possible? Yes these things can happen. Is it likely? No. It may be cystic, developing breast tissue, or other benign issues. Most likely it is developing breast tissue.
The whole point to this long-winded answer is for you to speak with your mother, have her make an appointment with your doctor, and put an end to this anxiety. Cancer is a tricky thing and shouldn't be diagnosed over the Internet. Your closeness with your mother is not the issue. Tell her you need to see a doctor and go.
Good luck. Don't panic until you have something to panic about. Just a little bit of advice.

Yes, but it's unlikely. Cancer is caused when cells start dividing and multiplying oddly/more than normal. Breast tissue in a 12 year old would be comprised of mostly newer cells.
A lump in a 12 year old would most likely be a cyst which is harmless and may come and go with your menstral cycle.
Check out breast cancer sites for information on how to do breast exam's on yourself. And, if you're still worried then ask your doctor.

if you're asking because you have a lump it's probably just because you are still developing. Do you remember the little tater-tot sized lumps you got when you first started geeting boobs...lol? Well you may still have that hardness until you are fully developed. If you are concerned about something maybe you should talk to your parents about maybe making an appointment with the doctor!

it is very possible, but it really depends on the risk factors. if breast cancer runs in your family, it can be inherited. my answer is to be very cautious and to try to protect yourself with good health practices and to do self breast exams regularly. one more piece of advice would be not to dwell on this fear to the point you can't enjoy life. your a child and just being happy and focused on your youth is what is most important. but if you ever have a reason to believe something is unusual or different about the way your breast looks or feels, tell your parents as soon as possible. chances are the problem is due to hormonal changes in your body. and most of all don't panic. be healthy and happy.

As you get older and mature, your breasts start to change in consistency. So keep in mind that they will start to feel different and may even start to have some "lumpiness" feeling to them as a result of hormonal changes. I suspect that this is what you are noticing.
It would be extremely rare to have breast cancer at your age.

sadly cancer does not discriminate. Age, sex, race cancer can attack anyone at any age. It is unlikely for breast cancer to strike at such a young age but yes it can happen. I have even seen cases where a man has breast cancer.

Lauren, you don't need Y!A for this one. You need to find out for sure.
Have you done the breast self-exam on yourself??? Google it and you will find pics and visuals to show you how to do it. Tell your mom about your suspicion, and both of you follow directions until you are convinced it is not.
If you aren't convinced it is not BC, then see a doctor.
Good Luck

extremely unlikely...if you have found a lump doesnt mean its cancer...if it moves a little when you touch it, it is definately NOT cancer...but even if it is hard it definately doesnt mean it's cancer..go to the doctor to get it checked to put your mind at rest. i have one on mine and i was freaking out about it but it was just a cyst or something like that, nothing to worry about
