I don't believe it is a sin!! You cannot go to hell for farting. Although i do feel it would be a common courtesy to try to hold it until you leave the elevator. But if you cant you cant.

Not a sin, but bad manners. Now to some people it is a sin and should be a crime if you do that in a walk-in humidor.
