...... If He doesn't have a name, then why do we capitalize G-o-d?

I asked this in the spirit of philosophical debate, not to get quoted Bible verses, though you shoudl use those if they help illustrate or direct your thoughts. I've read the Bible and still find room to question most minute details.

One is not given, you need a name to differentiate similar things. But since there is nothing akin to God there is no need for a given name. All the names he gives are aspects of Himself, He is I Am, Even Jesus' name means Savior. There is no given name, because of the uniqueness of what He is.

"God" is not a name; it is a title.

The ancient Hebrews considered God's Name too sacred to be uttered and was not and is not a Jewish superstition -- but it was and is a Divine Command. [Matthew 7:6]

The Divine Name should never be uttered aloud in this world, and neither should it be written in its true form in this world. The Name was never recorded in its true form in the Hebrew Scriptures, but was always indicated by a certain set of letters for the benefit of those who knew the Name.

The same was true of the writings of the early Christians who knew the Truth. The Name into which they were all baptized was never recorded in their writings in its true form. This is not a superstition -- there was a very good reason for it.

It's very surprising that many Christians who spend a lot of time studying the Bible have no idea that the Name of God has been translated in the Bible as "LORD" or "GOD." They are also unaware that the Hebrews of long ago were the first to do the very same thing; they forgot the Name of God, and for want of something to call Him, they called Him "Baal." [Jeremiah 23:27] "Baal" is simply a word from a Semitic language that meant lord, husband, or master and is also a title, not a name.

Obviously, there is nothing inherently wrong with the words "lord" or even "Baal," for God could certainly be called a Lord or Master. It is wrong only when the title "Lord" is used exclusively as a proper name after the True Name has been forgotten.

God has a name, firstly. God cannot be 'given' a name. In Genesis, God tells Adam to name all the plants and animals. Naming them gives Adam dominion over them. So Adam cannot name God. Most say God or G-d because one should not say God's name in vain (Yahweh, Allah, Jehovah, Whatever), and this is their way of being safe.

We capitalize God so that we differentiate Him from the false gods. That's why we type Him, He, God, etc. It's all capitalized. And it's why Zeus is a Greek god, not Greek God. It's a worship thing.

The purpose of names is to distinguish one person from another. God doesn't need one. When Moses asked God said " i am the God of Abraham , Isaac and Jacob. Moses pressed again and God said " I am that I am"

The Great I am!

When God was talking to Moses from the burning bush about going to get His people out of Egypt:

Exodus 3:14-15: "God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Isrealites: "I AM' has sent me to you.' God also said to Moses, 'Say to the Israelites, "The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob--has sent me to you." This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.'"

The word LORD in all caps means "Yahweh" in the Bible. The original language has multiple words for Lord and that one is always written as LORD in all caps. "Yahweh" means "the God who is." That makes sense since God said his name is "I AM."

God is just the name we give Him so we can talk about him without going through a big long explanation of what we mean every time we mention Him.

Oh, and it's Yahweh. Mister Yahweh, to you.

YHWH or "Yahweh" with the proper vowels added to it> god revealed his sacred name to moses in exodus 3:15> Jesus in hebrew means "yah(weh) saves"> "Jehovah" is not hte real name of God, but is used by Jews and some christian denominations inorder to keep god's real name sacred, even though God wants us to know his real name "yahweh". Jehovah is a mixture of YHWH and "adonai" which means lord>

If spirit and intent of translated bible verse "All things to glorify god" is upheld then?
and it also says in the beginning was the word and then (by capitalization in times new roman font) the WORD became god. notice name TODD.

as my followers note its kind of crazy but follows scripture as all things to glorify HIM. (and times new roman font works best)

EMPEROR
GOD
GODDESS
KING
LORD
LADY
ANGEL
GENERAL
DEATH
HADES
BAT
TAP
STOP
ETC...

ALL THINGS THAT GLORIFY(SPREAD FAME) OF HIM considering reading between the lines they all pertain to a LARRY TODD S. with arm cuts appearing IIII I . And born 1968.9.I7 which is shown in 123456789 upside down when 4 appears as h upsidedown. where 7 upside down is a leg and 5 upside down is ear and 2 upidedown is a face so it reads 68 leg 9 ear I7 E face I and god is I. thus the face of god.

Thus spiritually read between the lines of those words like QUEEN=QU[iL[iLIV.

so on paper and in real life god has been revealed so no excuse for your insolence except jealousy that you ain't HIM, and based on accepted WAR ....
