Rap is cool. i guess it would depend on what genre of rap. Most people stereotype rap with ghetto rap where people are talking about gang-banging, single mamas and other stuff of the like. That's the reality of ghetto life i suppose, but its' turned off a lot of people beause of some of the violence and vulgarity...
I love rap as an art because in the lyrics people are telling a story and often just to make the verses rhyme it takes some genuis song-writing skills.
Any how that's my "nick"el (10 more and you'd have 50 cents!),

i like the sound & form of rap. What i in my opinion hate, are lots of the lyrics. Rap that talks approximately violence, women like they are decrease creatures, intercourse, drugs, money being the main mandatory situation in existence, all that stuff, it is the worst message to deliver out. i can not enable my little ones to take heed to idiots like lil wayne. he's disrespectful in each and every way, which comprise in the direction of our militia. He does no longer stay to tell the story an afternoon as a Marine. I see what you're saying although, rap isn't the sole style that sends out undesirable messages yet almost each and every music does vs different genres.

It's just not my bag hence I do not listen. I will say that I am not a fan of the huge amount of violence in the music as can see on news but rock and jazz and everything else all has it's vices: drugs, sex, etc. so just me being weird I guess

I would not get caught up in a style like the rythm...
but I would look at the substance and the words and see the ideas they propmote and decide

Rap music is crap right now!!! And it spreads ignorance and not only that it spreads it, it also glorifies it!!! Isn't that just amazing, destroying our young generation as we speak!!
Now Outkast brings positive messages throughout their songs!!

It's unintelligent. Because it's from american black culture.Not because all blacks are dumb, but a surprising number of american blacks are dumb. Why? Poverty, crappy schools, of course the legacy of slavery. Ouch!
