I believe that some may not understand this statement. It was made by Jesus when he was in the desert for 40 days and was tempted by Satan. So it goes that Satan offered the Lord all the kingdoms in the world if he would worship him...this is the temptation. Jesus said this out of refusal.

I am in obedience to that law of God. But it is very important for you to share with others where you found that scripture.

Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

I think that tempting God reveals a lack of trust in Him.

Recently, I was searching for someone to watch my daughter for a couple of days while my mother-in-law (who usually cares for my daughter while I work) was on vacation. I took several recommendations, then visited one for an interview. Among other things, she assured me that she had a license to provide infant daycare (and could show it to me upon request). At the end of the meeting, she asked if I had any other questions. I asked her to show me her license. She grumbled that she did not have it available, and so I left - disappointed that an otherwise viable candidate lied to me.

She was human, drenched in sin (as are we all, except as cleansed by Christ Jesus). In her case, I had to challenge her to obtain the truth. God, however, is perfect and His truth (His Word) is available to all who choose to read it.

If I can't trust perfection, how can I dwell in the Lord? If there is even a whisper of mistrust, how can I accept the grace that He offers or the salvation afforded by His Son, Jesus Christ? Thanks to God that he offered this guidance that you mentioned.

I think you're right! Thou shalt not tempt the Lord, thy God. It is written, and that's the way it should be with us who are believers so we can witness to God's righteousness.

I think I grow weary of life and trying to figure out where to go next or how to get there. I am searching constantly and see very few answers. Only time will tell if I can reach this level as I feel lost in my emotions and desires that are unfulfilled.......p&l ~p~

The truth is God does not tempt any man nor can he be tempted.

That means that you should not put any other god above the one and only god. There is only one God and his name is Jehovah. Ps. 83:18.

I wondered what god is tempted by. Chocolate, sex, drink or all three? Perhaps that's just me.

Pretty simple and straight forward I think.

If the Bible says not to do it then we shouldn't do it. It's all for reason. The reason is coming soon.
