I think if you put your name down at Guy's as a potential subject, they have a list of people from whom they can choose patients for their students to practice on.

The work they do will be of the highest quality because the students will be working under the watchful eye of a tutor. No need to worry about bad dental practice!

A long time ago a friend of mine studied at Guy's and he offered me the opportunity to have dental work done (at the time he said I could have gold fillings free!)

The best thing to do would be to visit (or phone) Guy's and ask about the procedure.

Personally if I was going to a Dental Hospital I would rather a Dental Student did the work as they recieve the dental training.

Medical Students are those training to be doctors and they know very little about teeth!

Go to Floor 26 and ask to register. You will need an initial appointment with a student to check your teeth before any work is done on them. You can register now but it is unlikely that you will get an appointment for a check-up until the middle of September.

If you have an urgent dental problem then you can go to Floor 23 monday-friday. Emergency clinics are at 8.45am and 1.30pm. Arrive early is my tip. If you want to be seen asap arrive around 8am or earlier for the morning clinic. All of the treatment for both the emergency clinic and the routine dental clinic is free of charge.

NB: The emergency clinic does not do extractions! All treatment is temporary in the emergency clinic.

Hi

I queried this myself as the cost of dental care has not got any cheaper. Basically you need to leave your current dentist to be elgible to go to the dental hosptial. I myself tried as a poor student and in the end wating for hours on end made me go back to my dentist. if you have all the time in the world and not got a job go the dental hospital, the only plus is at least you get several opnions and not just one.

Call the Dental School, if any, around town!! This is the best way to meet a dental student!! Do not let a dental student tell you that the root of a tooth is so long that it reaches your chest!!!! If you find one, do not forget to use Listerine as dental students (or dentists) do not like bad breath!!!

Either get your dentist to arrange a referral (mine did) or write/phone the Director's secretary or the Head of the department you want to be listed in. Excellent highly-qualified staff supervise your student's work closely at every stage. You'll not be at any more risk than at a good dentistry practice.

Just call into Guys and ask. A distressed answer from a girl answering before me. The students are very good and you won't be harmed.
