I had new granite countertops put in my kitchen. How long should I wait before I can have the plumbing and other appliances hooked up?
How long does it take for the caulking to dry?

I had to comment because the answer above is absolutely incorrect!
The silicone that they use to adhere the sink to the granite takes 24 hours to dry, if you get it wet during that time you weakin the bond, and could risk your sink falling right through your granite someday!
Be safe! Wait 24 hours before even hooking up a faucet to avoid accidentally turning it on!

Of course, I am no expert but on all the show that I watch, the plumbing and hookups pretty much happen in the same day. Granite is pretty settled as soon as it sits on something..from its own weight. Depends on the caulking but if it is firm to the tough, you probably are fine to go ahead.

24hrs after they caulked it... then it is set!

I know.. I am th one who sells them... then arrange the template date for u as a buyer... and for some client of mine... will be on site for the granite install... I also co-ordinate plumbers, and electricians, contractors as extras for the install (if client needs extra hook-ups "disposers" "hot-water" "filtrations" and such... and this is not the first time I have answered this question!

I usually co-ordinte the whole process and will be talking to the clients, countertop installers/templater/rep, plumbers etc.. etc.
