Alright, I had gotten a bunch of nasty spyware/trojans/whatever. I want to completely wipe everything off of my computer. However, I don't want to have dual operating systems. Just one. How do I arrange this from the Windows XP recovery disc? What exactly is a partition, and can I/do I need to delete them? Thanks, any help's appreciated.

When you divide the storage space on your hard drive into seperate sections, these are called partitions, and can be identified as individual drives (like c:, d:, e:, etc). If you want to completely wipe the drive and setup just one operating system then, yeah, delete all partitions in the list that shows up in the windows setup, and then setup windows in the unalocated space. Then setup will create and format one partition using all available space on the hard drive, and then will carry on setting up windows.
Does that make sense?

Yes, you can delete the partition. This will wipe out XP off of your system. However, just make sure that you create a new partition. This all can be done using the Windows XP CD and booting off the CD on start up.

A partitian is a disc that is divided into 'TWO DISCS' You probably do not want to get rid of them because with XP one of the partitions is backup of your OS.

I've heard that reinstalling XP doesn't get rid of the viruses on your computer. I'm not 100% on that, but just what I heard.
