I have done a lot of traveling and I prefer things like tuna sandwiches and bologna and cheese. Depends on the length of the road trip and whether your friend is taking a cooler. Things like carrot sticks and celery are good and easy to eat as are packs of cheese crackers. But most of all you must have lots of liquids, so bottled water and sodas are a must. But not to be ingested too often or you will spend more time in rest areas than on the road. Cookies like chocolate chip or oatmeal are good. One must remember that while they are driving to supply one hand food that is easily accessible. Good Luck.

baby carrot are healthy and not messy. Some of those 100 calorie packets are also good snack foods. A couple of Red Bulls for caffiene and that should do it. Dont overload him on energy foods, they are high in calories and if he is sitting/driving all day he wont need all those calories.

If he likes them, you should include Tiger's Milk or Cliff bars. They're practically meal replacements, and provide a lot of energy.

I'm partial to the Peanut Butter Tiger's Milk bars - they're pleasant in flavor, and easily replace a full lunch.
